This is a Colt mod. 1911
made under license by Kongsberg Våpenfabrikk (Kongsberg Arsenal).
Slide is stamped
"11.25 mm AUT. PISTOL M/1914".
Production started
1917
(parts from 1916) and ended in 1947.
During WWII production
continued under German supervision. Some where stamped with
German proof (Waffenamt 84 / WaA84) marks and found their way in to German service
under the designation "Pistole 657 (n)". There were also smuggled a
large number of parts out of the factory during WWII, these parts were assembled
to complete guns and used by the resistance. It's said that as many as 500 guns
were assembled this way. These guns had partially markings, and mostly no serial
number. Some where completely unmarked.
The one depicted below was
produced in 1918 and has a low
3-digit serial number.
